Vietnam Book Day is an important cultural event for book lovers and the wider community. It is not only an occasion to honor the value of books and affirm their role and significance in social life, but also a time to recognize readers and all those involved in collecting, creating, publishing, printing, distributing, and preserving books. In addition, the event plays an essential role in raising awareness and responsibility among various sectors and levels of society in building and developing a reading culture in Vietnam.
In response to Official Dispatch No. 1139/BGDĐT-GDTX dated March 28, 2022, issued by the Ministry of Education and Training regarding the organization of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, the Library of Ho Chi Minh University of Banking (HUB) carried out several activities to promote reading culture within the university:
- Promoting the cultural significance of Vietnam Book Day through the university's official web portals and communication channels;
- Organizing programs and integrated activities to foster reading habits in academic learning and scientific research;
- Introducing newly updated textbooks and reference materials aligned with the university’s academic programs;
- Launching a repository of institutional digital theses and dissertations on the DSpace technology platform;
- Organizing the Preliminary Round of the 2022 “Reading Culture Ambassador” Contest at the university level;
- Enhancing users’ skills in searching for, accessing, and using information to broaden their knowledge base;
- Promoting library resource sharing among higher education institutions, and developing and connecting open educational resources to meet the demands of lifelong learning.
Through these activities, the Library hopes to spread and strengthen reading culture, thereby contributing to the improvement of teaching, learning, and research quality at Ho Chi Minh University of Banking.
