The year 2025 opened a breakthrough journey, marking strategic achievements in the development path of Ho Chi Minh University of Banking. This was not only a year in which HUB continued to affirm its internal strength and resilience through continuous innovation to pioneer and lead, but also a pivotal year toward the 50th anniversary of its establishment and development. With the spirit of innovation and sustainable development, the University effectively implemented key tasks, creating widespread values and building an inspiring learning and working environment for staff, lecturers, and the learning community.
Let us look back at the highlights and 25 outstanding events of Ho Chi Minh University of Banking in 2025.
1. Successfully organizing the 17th Party Congress of Delegates for the 2025–2030 term. This served as a foundation for the Party Committee to excellently accomplish Party development tasks and comprehensively lead the University, exceeding all 6/6 higher education standards stipulated in Circular No. 01 issued on February 5, 2024 by the Ministry of Education and Training, making HUB ready to participate in global university rankings.
2. Successfully organizing the Congress of Delegates of the Grassroots Trade Union of Ho Chi Minh University of Banking for the 2025–2030 term, the Emulation Cluster Sports and Cultural Festival, and the special highlights of “HUB Journey 2025,” strengthening cohesion, caring for the welfare of officials and employees, and affirming the pioneering role and prestige of the University Trade Union within the Banking Trade Union system.
3. The Youth Union organized more than 1,000 movement, academic, volunteer, and skills activities for students, and the Student Association of Ho Chi Minh University of Banking successfully organized its congress.
4. Ho Chi Minh University of Banking was granted financial autonomy (Level 1). This is the result of the University’s collective efforts, opening opportunities for HUB to effectively utilize all resources.
5. Strongly attracting talents, achieving the highest recruitment number ever with 15 Associate Professors and PhDs, raising the total elite workforce to 270 Professors, Associate Professors, and PhDs, accounting for 63% of officials and employees of the entire University.
6. Developing the team of Professors, Associate Professors, and PhDs from internal sources with an additional 32 Professors and PhDs. Accordingly, the number of highly qualified scientists at HUB reached a record level, with 61 Professors and Associate Professors.
7. Developing 08 regular undergraduate and high-quality training programs and 04 distance learning programs.
8. Successfully developing elite training programs: the Elite Class at the undergraduate level and the Business Class at the master’s level.
9. Developing 02 postgraduate training programs (Master of English Language and Doctor of Economic Law).
10. Successfully completing undergraduate and postgraduate enrollment targets in the context of increasingly fierce competition among educational institutions. At the undergraduate level, HUB recorded an increase of more than 80% in the number of registered applications compared to 2024. At the postgraduate level, the number of applications for the first time significantly exceeded the enrollment quota, affirming the University’s growing prestige and training quality.
11. Becoming the first university to grant AI certificates to students. Implementing nearly 100 short-term AI training courses for the State Bank of Vietnam, corporations, enterprises, and People’s Committees.
12. Completing the development of 04 new undergraduate majors for enrollment in 2026: Chinese Language, Information Technology, Insurance Technology, and Hotel Business Administration, thereby increasing the total number of regular undergraduate majors to 20, three times higher than in 2022.
13. Completing institutional accreditation under AUN-QA standards and moving toward FIBAA accreditation in 2026. HUB is the 16th university among AUN-QA member institutions to be assessed at the institutional level and the 15th higher education institution in Vietnam to undergo institutional assessment under international standards.
14. Being one of the few educational institutions accredited for doctoral-level training programs and international dual-degree programs.
15. Achieving certification of the management system in accordance with ISO 21001:2018 at Ho Chi Minh University of Banking.
16. International publications increased by 200%, and the Journal’s English, Vietnamese, and electronic versions were upgraded by the State Professorial Council to a scientific score of 1.0 point starting from 2025.
17. Licensing three additional publications: Asian Journal of Social Sciences, Humanities and Policy; Asian Journal of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence; and Asian Journal of Applied Financial Econometrics, ensuring that all fields and training disciplines of HUB have scientific publications.
18. Achieving numerous scientific research awards; lecturers ranked in the TOP 5 most influential Vietnamese researchers worldwide in the field of Mathematics and Statistics. Student scientific research achieved First Prize, one Third Prize, and one Consolation Prize at the Eureka Awards 2025 in the field of Economics.
19. Successfully organizing many influential international conferences and scientific seminars, including the seminar “The Return Journey – Accompanying the Vietnamese Young Generation” with Dr. Philipp Rösler, former Vice Chancellor of Germany, one of the most successful Vietnamese and Asian figures in international politics.
20. Developing a record number of international partners, reaching 118 prestigious universities worldwide, affirming HUB’s increasingly strong position and reputation in the global higher education network.
21. For the first time, organizing the Indochina Summit Conference on cooperation in training human resources for digital transformation.
22. Signing cooperation agreements with more than 100 domestic associations, organizations, and enterprises.
23. Strongly developing the Pickleball movement by putting into operation a cluster of 9 Pickleball courts in Thu Duc City. Pickleball became an official training content with two modules: a basic module (compulsory) and an advanced module (elective) for students. HUB officials and employees actively participated and achieved many high results in Pickleball tournaments.
24. Becoming one of the first universities to officially introduce E-sports as a sport within the university and, for the first time, including it in the list of official competition events at the HUB Student Sports Festival 2025.
25. HUB students achieved high results in international and domestic sports competitions. The most outstanding highlight was student Nguyen Thanh Duyen from the Faculty of Economic Law, who, together with the national team, excellently won the Gold Medal in Arena of Valor at SEA Games 33, bringing home the first-ever Gold Medal for Vietnamese e-sports at the Games. In addition, HUB students won one Gold Medal and one Silver Medal at the Ho Chi Minh City Open Student Vovinam Championship 2025. The HUB women’s volleyball team also excellently claimed the Championship title at the RMIT Open Volleyball Tournament 2025.
The year 2025 affirmed the determination for comprehensive innovation of Ho Chi Minh University of Banking. These 25 outstanding events serve as a solid foundation to welcome a brilliant new year 2026.
