The year 2025 marked a development journey with many outstanding achievements of the Information – Library Center of Ho Chi Minh University of Banking. Below are 10 typical events and activities, clearly demonstrating the Center’s role in accompanying and effectively supporting training activities, scientific research, and community services during the past year.
1. Effective implementation of key projects and professional activities
The Center implemented and is in the completion phase of two major projects: “Library Digital Transformation – with the Digital Library Software Investment Project” and “Ensuring Standards of Higher Education Libraries – with the Library Modernization Project.” The Center strengthened cataloging, acquisition, and digitization of materials to ensure synchronization and effectiveness during project implementation. Cataloging activities were implemented synchronously, completing 100% of newly acquired materials and legal deposit materials; the digitization of textbooks for partial English-taught training programs and special training programs reached 100%, contributing to the development and completion of digital resources and actively supporting the Digital Library Project and the Library Modernization Project.
2. Promoting cooperation and developing information resources
The Center actively expanded cooperative relationships with publishers and reputable information database providers through working sessions and professional seminars such as EBSCO, FiinGroup, Statista, iGroup, Emerald Publishing, and Pearson. Institutional resources were supplemented with 1,749 titles, exceeding the planned target; at the same time, two open-access databases were introduced and exploited.
3. Improving quality and diversifying library services
Service quality was clearly improved through the results of the satisfaction survey for the academic year 2024–2025. The Center implemented the Turnitin plagiarism-checking support service, added one FiinPro-X account, bringing the total to two accounts; strengthened communication activities, with the fanpage gaining 3,000 followers in the last three months of the year, increasing the total number of followers to 13,000.
4. Organizing diverse training and user guidance activities
For the first time, the Center implemented many training and library user guidance contents and successfully organized them with positive results. Specifically, training classes for first-year students were organized during Civic Education Week; four on-site library usage guidance classes were organized with a scale of nearly 20 participants per class; and one online training class on exploiting the FiinPro database was organized, attracting a large number of students and lecturers to participate, contributing to improving skills in searching and using information resources.
5. Organizing a university-level scientific conference
The scientific conference with the theme “Improving the Quality of University Libraries to Meet Domestic and International Accreditation Standards and Requirements” was successfully organized, attracting more than 100 delegates and selecting 49 papers for publication in the Proceedings. The conference served as an important scientific forum for managers, experts, and library staff to exchange experiences and share solutions to improve library operation quality, contributing to meeting educational quality accreditation requirements in the context of integration.
6. Organizing a seminar program to develop reading culture
The seminar program “Career Preparation through Books” in 2025 with the theme “Innovation in the Digital Era” attracted more than 300 participants, contributing to spreading reading culture and inspiring learning among students.
7. Organizing the university-level “Reading Culture Ambassador” contest
The “Reading Culture Ambassador” contest in 2025 attracted 43 entries at the university level; notably, one entry achieved a ministerial-level award, affirming effectiveness in developing reading culture.
8. Implementing events and thematic book collection exhibitions
The Center organized many book exhibition activities on the occasion of major holidays and events, typically including:
• HUB Learning and Career Festival
• Commemoration of April 30 – Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day
• September 2 – National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam
• October 20 – Vietnamese Women’s Day
• November 20 – Vietnamese Teachers’ Day
• 49th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh University of Banking
• Book exhibitions of works authored by University lecturers during the AUN-QA accreditation period and training program accreditation periods
9. Implementing community activities and spreading humanitarian values
The program “Books – Nurturing the Future Generation” in 2025 was organized at Luu Ngoc Primary School (Cao Bang), donating gifts worth more than 23 million VND including many books, notebooks, and learning supplies; at the same time, actively participating in supporting people affected by natural disasters.
10. Outstanding Trade Union activities
Successfully organizing the Trade Union Division Congress for the 2025–2030 term, participating in the Grassroots Trade Union Congress for the 2025–2030 term. At the same time, officials and employees actively participated in and achieved many accomplishments in movement activities such as: HUB Expanded Sports Festival in March 2025, HUB InterPick Tournament, Sports Festival celebrating Vietnamese Teachers’ Day on November 20, Sports and Performance Festival of the Southern Banking Grassroots Trade Union Emulation Cluster, and the “HUB Expanded Autumn Sports Festival 2025.”
